Note: The water pump cannot be disassembled or repaired. Replace the pump assembly if necessary.
Water Pump Installation Components
1 - Water pump pulley; 2 - Water pump; 3 - Sealing ring; 4 - Suction tube; 5 - Heater hose; 6 - Lower radiator hose; 7 - Water hose
1. Drain the cooling system (see section Replacing the coolant).
2. Remove the multi-ribbed belt (see Chapter Engine) and the water pump pulley.
Note: To make removal of the pulley easier, loosen its fasteners before removing the belt.
3. Insert a wooden block into the pump and knock out the pump. Remove the pump gasket.
Note: Removing the pump will release coolant remaining in the engine.
4. To remove the intake tube, remove the air cleaner assembly, radiator and heater hoses, move the wiring away from the tube, unscrew the bolts and pull the tube towards the rear of the engine.
5. Make sure that there are no traces of dirt or rust on the pump and its blades. The pump shaft should rotate smoothly by hand and have no play. Replace the pump if necessary.
6. Installation is carried out in reverse order. Please note the following points.
7. Install new sealing ring into the groove at the end of the suction tube.

8. Apply a bead of sealant to the pump flange as shown in the illustration.
9. After at least 30 minutes from installing the water pump, fill the cooling system and check it for leaks (see Chapter Vehicle settings and routine maintenance).
