Steering wheel — checking and maintenance on the car — checking the steering wheel turning moment (Nissan Note E11)

1. Stop the vehicle on a level, dry surface and apply the parking brake.

2. Remove the driver airbag module from the steering wheel.

3. Start the engine and check the steering wheel turning torque using a preload measuring device (special tool).

Steering torque: 5.9 N·m (0.60 kg·m) or less.

4. If the torque is abnormal, check the steering column and steering gear. If abnormal, replace.
