1. The selector lever lock system works when the ignition key is in the ON position. The locking mechanism prevents the lever from moving out of position P without depressing the brake pedal.
If, when moving from position P, first pull the lever and then press the brake pedal, the lever will not move. You must first press the brake pedal, and then pull the lever towards you.
2. If the selector lever is not in position P, then the key is not removed from the ignition switch.
If the selector lever is not in the P position, the key will not turn to the LOCK position.
3. If the selector lever is moved to position R when the ignition key is in the ON position, the horn will sound inside the cabin to warn that reverse gear is engaged, but this horn does not warn people outside.
Removing the selector lever lock
If suddenly the selector lever does not move out of position P, tighten the parking brake and, while pressing the brake pedal, release the blockage as follows:
While pulling out the lock release button, move the lever.
Note: If the ignition key is in position Ace, the selector lever can be moved out of position P without depressing the brake pedal.
