Component | The location of the adjusting bolt and the method of tensioning the belt |
Alternator and A/C Compressor Belt | Adjusting bolt on idler pulley |
water pump belt | Adjusting bolt on idler pulley |
Attention:
- When replacing the belt with a new one, tension it to the value for «new belt», to compensate for insufficient fit to the pulley grooves.
- When the belt tension exceeds «limit», adjust it to the value «when adjusting».
- When putting on the belt, make sure that it sits correctly in the pulley groove.
- Do not allow oil or engine coolant to come into contact with the belt.
- Do not twist or bend the belt excessively.
Alternator and A/C Compressor Belt (on models with air conditioning)
1. Remove the protective pad from the front right fender.
2. Loosen locknut (1).
3. Tighten locknut (1) fingers.
4. Loosen locknut (1) half a turn counterclockwise.
5. Adjust the belt tension by turning the adjusting bolt (2).
For belt tension, see section above «Checking drive belts».
6. Tighten locknut (1)
Lock-nut (1): 24.5-31.4 Nm (2.5-3.2 kg m)
7. Turn the crankshaft two times clockwise.
8. Make sure the belt tension is within the specified range. See chapter General information and technical service.
