Attention:
- When replacing the belt with a new one, tension it to the value for "new belt" to compensate for insufficient fit to the pulley grooves.
- When the tension of the belt being put on exceeds the "limit", adjust it to the value "at adjustment".
- When installing the belt, make sure it is seated correctly in the pulley groove.
- Do not allow engine oil or coolant to come into contact with the belt.
- Do not twist or bend the belt excessively.
Generator and air conditioning compressor belt (on models with air conditioning)
1. Remove the protective cover from the front right fender.
2. Loosen the locknut (1).
3. Tighten the lock nut (1) with your fingers.
4. Loosen the lock nut (1) half a turn counterclockwise.
5. Adjust the belt tension by turning the adjusting bolt (2).
For belt tension information, see section above "Checking drive belts".
6. Tighten the lock nut (1)
Locknut (1): 24.5-31.4 N·m (2.5-3.2 kg·m)
7. Turn the crankshaft clockwise twice.
8. Make sure that the belt tension is within the normal range. See chapter General information and technical support.

Generator belt (on models without air conditioning)
