Removal
1. Raise the vehicle and remove the wheels from the vehicle.
2. Disconnect the electrical connectors from the ABS wheel sensors. See Chapter Brake system.
3. Disconnect the brake hose from the strut. See chapter Brake system.
4. Remove the brake caliper from the steering knuckle. Hang it up so that it does not interfere with your work. See chapter Brake system.
Caution: Do not press the brake pedal after removing the brake caliper.
5. Remove the brake disc from the wheel hub. See chapter Brake system.
6. Remove the ABS wheel sensor from the steering knuckle. See chapter Brake system.
Caution: Do not pull on the wheel sensor wiring.
7. Unscrew the lock nut from the drive shaft using a wrench (special tool).
8. Remove the steering rod from the steering knuckle. If it is difficult to remove, use a ball joint puller (suitable special tool).

Caution: To avoid damaging the threads and the ball joint puller coming off (suitable special tool) tighten the lock nut by hand.
9. Remove the steering knuckle from the strut.
Caution: Do not bend the drive shaft joint more than 22°. Securely fix the steering knuckle so as not to overextend the sliding joint.
10. Remove the drive shaft from the steering knuckle.
Attention:
- When removing the drive shaft, do not bend the joint to an angle greater than 22°. Also, do not overstretch the sliding joint.
- Do not lift the drive shaft with the axle shaft attached by grasping only the intermediate shaft.
- Do not allow the drive shaft to hang down when inserted into the transmission without support from the intermediate shaft, wheel joints, or other components.
11. Remove the mounting bolt and nut from the ball joint of the control arm. Then remove the control arm of the steering knuckle.
Installation
Installation is performed in the reverse order of removal.
