Attention.
- The angle of the camber, as well as the angles of the longitudinal and transverse inclination of the axis of rotation are not adjustable
- If the camber angles, as well as the pitch and roll angles, are out of range, check the front suspension elements for wear and damage and make the necessary repairs with the replacement of the corresponding parts.
- The pitch angle value is for reference only and does not need to be verified.
Measurement of wheel alignment angles is carried out on an equipped vehicle.
Note. The curb state is the condition of the vehicle in which it is fully filled with fuel, coolant and oil and is ready to drive. Spare wheel, jack, hand tools and floor mats are in place.
Preliminary check
You need to check the following:
- Check tire pressure and wear.
- Check wheel runout.
- Check the end play in the wheel bearings.
- Check the axial play of the ball joints of the stabilizer link.
- Check the operation of the shock absorber.
- Check the reliability of fastening and the condition of each suspension element.
- Check all levers, rods and other suspension elements for cracks, deformation and other damage.
Checking the camber, pitch and roll angles of the wheels
Before checking, place the front wheels on a turntable. Place the rear wheels on jack stands the same height as the turntable that the front wheels are on so that the vehicle is level.
Using a wheel alignment gauge
Install the device holder (KU991S4S8S), as described below, then measure the wheel alignment:
1. Unscrew the three wheel nuts, then screw the guide bolts onto the hub bolts.
2. Screw the adapter into the plate until it makes good contact.
3. Screw the center plate into the plate.
4. Insert the plate assembly onto the guide bolts. Install the springs and tighten the three guide bolt nuts evenly. When tightening the nuts on the guide bolts, do not allow the springs to be fully compressed.
5. Install the sensor with the hole on the ledge of the central plate and fix it securely.
Note. Wheel alignment values are given in section «Service data and specification» at the end of the chapter.
Attention.
- If the camber angles, as well as the pitch and roll angles, are out of range, check the front suspension elements for wear and damage and make the necessary repairs with the replacement of the corresponding parts.
- The pitch angle value is for reference only and does not need to be verified.
Wheel alignment check
Measure wheel alignment as described below.
Attention.
- Wheel alignment must only be checked on a level surface.
- Before pushing the car, make sure that no one is in front of it.
1. Rock the front of the car several times to stabilize the height of the car body.
2. While pushing, roll the vehicle forward approximately 5 m.
3. Mark (A) on the main tread line of the tire (from the back) on both wheels at the same height corresponding to the center of the wheel hub. These are measurement points.
4. Measure distance (A) (from the back).
Note. The arrow points in front of the car.
5. Slowly push the car forward so that the wheels turn 180° (half turn).
Note. If the wheels turn more than 180° (half turn), you need to start the procedure from the beginning. Do not roll the vehicle back.
6. Measure distance (IN) (from the front). Calculate the wheel toe value using the formula:
- General convergence = A - B.
Note. The value of the convergence of the wheels is given in the section «Service data and specification» at the end of the chapter.
If the toe-in exceeds the standard value, adjust the lengths of the tie rod ends.
