Removal and installation of manual transmission (Nissan Micra K12)

Note: After removing the manual transmission, the concentric slave cylinder (CSC) must be replaced. Dust on the sliding parts of the clutch disc can cause damage to the CSC seal, which will lead to leakage of clutch fluid.

Components for mounting manual transmission

1. Remove the battery (see Chapter Engine electrical systems).

2. Remove the gear shift and selection cables from the manual transmission (see section Removal and installation the gear shift drive).

3. Bleed the clutch fluid and remove the clutch pipe from the concentric slave cylinder.

4. Remove the engine wiring harness holder.

5. Remove the CKP sensor (see section Operating principle of the engine management system) and starter (see Chapter Engine electrical systems).

6. Remove the breather hose from the manual transmission (see section Removal and installation the manual transmission breather hose).

7. Remove the front section of the exhaust pipe (see Chapter Fuel and exhaust systems).

8. Remove the drive shafts (see Chapter Drive shafts, steering knuckles and hub assemblies).

9. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the neutral and reverse sensor retainer (see section Removal, checking and installation the neutral and reverse sensor).

10. Place jacks under the manual transmission and engine.

11. Remove the rear engine mount bracket and the pendulum arm, and also unscrew the bolts securing the manual transmission to the left engine mount bracket (from the RKPP side) - see Chapter Engine.

12. Unscrew the manual transmission mounting bolts and remove it.

13. Installation is done in reverse order. Do not forget to replace the CSC.

14. When installing the manual transmission, do not allow the input shaft to come into contact with the clutch cover. Tighten the manual transmission mounting bolts with the required force.
