Removing
Note. To perform the procedures below, you will need a sealant pad cutting tool.
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Jack up the front of the car and place it on jack stands.
3. Turn out a drain stopper of the pallet and merge impellent oil in a suitable container. Screw the plug back into place by tightening it firmly.
4. Give bolts of fastening of the engine to reinforcing arms of transmission, remove arms from the engine. Give bolts and nuts of fastening of the bottom back plate (shield) engine to the flywheel housing.
5. Gradually, in several stages, give the bolts of the engine oil pan. Move in a spiral from the edges of the pallet to the middle.
6. If the sump is installed without a gasket, use the special tool to cut through the pad of sealant through which the sump attaches to the crankcase. To avoid damage, never use this tool to release the rear oil seal holder
7. The pallet installed on the gasket should be tapped with a soft-faced hammer to release it.
8. If necessary, give the fixing bolts and remove the oil intake from the engine (see accompanying illustration - main bearing caps are marked with numbers). Discard the O-ring.
Installation
Installation is in the reverse order.
1. Clean the mating surfaces of the sump and crankcase, carefully removing all traces of old gasket/sealant material from them.
2. Carefully inspect the pallet, checking it for mechanical damage. Make any necessary repairs or replace the defective pan.
3. Flush the inside of the sump and oil pickup assembly with a suitable solvent to completely remove all traces of charcoal and sludge.
4. Install the oil pump intake with a new sealing ring and tighten its fastening bolts with a force of 16÷19 Nm.
Note. Both a gasket and a sealant pad can be used to seal the sump on the crankcase. In the absence of confidence in the absolute flatness of the mounting flange, the compilers of this manual recommend that a gasket be preferred in order to avoid future problems associated with oil leaks.
5. When using a sealant, place a pillow of high-quality sealant with a section diameter of 3.5÷4.5 mm into the groove of the flange and around the bolt holes in it. Within five minutes of applying the sealant, press the tray against the block, being careful not to disturb the continuity of the pad. Then screw in the mounting bolts and tighten them to the required torque in a diagonal pattern, moving outward from the center.
6. Install the reinforcing brackets by tightening their fastening bolts to the required torque.
7. Fill the engine with fresh oil, then start the engine and check for leaks.
Note. If sealant was used to seal the sump seat, do not start adding oil to the engine until thirty minutes after the sump is installed.
