Description
The procedure is an idling air supply learning operation in which the engine speed is maintained within the normal range. It must be performed in the following cases:
- When replacing the throttle actuator or ECM.
- When the speed x x differs from the norm.
Preparation
Before performing the xx speed air learning procedure, make sure that the following conditions are met. The learning procedure is canceled if one of them is not observed even for a moment.
- battery voltage: more than 12.9V (at speed x.x.);
- engine coolant temperature: 70-100°С;
- PNP switch in position «ON»;
- electrical load switch: in position «OFF» (air conditioning, headlights, rear window defroster).
On vehicles equipped with a daytime running light, set the light switch to position 1 to turn on only the small lights.
- steering wheel: in neutral position (corresponding to rectilinear motion);
- vehicle speed: the vehicle is stationary;
- gearbox: warm;
Take a 10 minute drive.
Execution procedure
Note:
- It is recommended to keep accurate timekeeping with a watch.
- If there is a malfunction in the accelerator pedal position sensor circuit, it will not be possible to enter diagnostic mode.
1. Perform the accelerator pedal release position learning procedure.
2. Perform the throttle closed position learning procedure.
3. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Make sure that all the conditions mentioned in the section «Preparation».
5. Turn the ignition key to position «OFF» and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Make sure the accelerator pedal is fully released, turn the ignition key to the «ON» and wait 3 seconds.
7. Rapidly repeat the following procedure five times within 5 seconds:
- A. Fully depress the accelerator pedal
- b. Fully release the accelerator pedal
8. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it for approx. 20 seconds until the fault indicator Ml stops flashing and lights up steadily.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the malfunction indicator Ml lights up.
10. Start the engine and let it run at idle speed.
11. Wait 20 seconds.
12. Force the engine two or three times and make sure that the speed x.x. fine

13. If the RPM x x x is out of range, the Idle Air Blow Learning procedure will not be performed. In this case, find the cause of the malfunction, guided by «Diagnostic procedure».
Diagnostic procedure
If the idle speed air supply learning procedure cannot be performed, proceed as follows:
1. Make sure throttle is fully closed.
2. Check the operation of the PCV valve.
3. Make sure that there is no air leakage in the area behind the throttle valve.
4. If everything is in order with the three points above, then there is a suspicion regarding the components of the engine and the correctness of their installation. Check and eliminate the cause of the problem.
5. If one of the following conditions occurs after starting the engine, correct the cause of the problem and perform the Idle Air Blow Learning procedure from the beginning:
- The engine stalls.
- The engine is unstable at idle speed.
