Examination
WARNINGS:
- When measuring pressure, depress the brake pedal slowly.
- For models with ABS, disconnect the connector from the actuator relay before testing.
1. Attach pressure gauges to the bleed valves on one of the front and rear brakes.
2. Purge the air from the gauges.
3. Observe the pressure in the rear brake mechanisms, gradually increasing the force on the pedal.
If the pressure at the outlet of the regulator is not within the specified limits, replace the regulator (models with separate regulator) or brake master cylinder (models with built-in regulator).
4. Disconnect gauges and bleed hydraulic actuator (see relevant section of this chapter).
Withdrawal (separate regulator)
1. Drain the brake fluid through the air release valves.
2. Loosen the union nuts.
3. Remove the regulator mounting bolt. then finally unscrew the union nuts and disconnect the tubes.
Installation (separate regulator)
1. Fit the union nuts of the brake pipes.
2. Tighten the regulator mounting bolt, then drive the flare nuts by inserting a wooden block between the regulator housing and the instrument panel.
- Union nuts - 15-18 Nm
- Regulator mounting bolt - 5.1-8.8 Nm
3. Fill the system with new brake fluid.
4. Remove air from the system (see section «Bleeding the hydraulic drive»).
Removal and installation (built-in regulator)
See section «Master brake cylinder».
Replace the pressure regulator only together with the master cylinder.
