Removal of blocking of the lever of the selector AT
AT has a function «kick-down» – reduction of transfer at completely squeezed out pedal of gas if AT works in the mode «D». This function is used to ensure maximum acceleration, for example when overtaking. After that, an upshift occurs, unless the accelerator pedal is released before the maximum speed is reached.
Attention! When downshifting on a slippery road, there is a risk of skidding.
Selector lever lock
On the side of the handle of the AT mode selector lever is a large button designed to prevent accidental switching of AT modes. Press the button to move the selector lever to the positions «P» And «R», as well as when switching from the mode «2» into mode «1».
In addition, to move the lever from the position «P» in driving position, press the brake pedal.
On some models, there is a selector lever lock release button to the right of the selector lever. If the selector lever cannot be moved out of position «P» even though the ignition switch is in the «Acc» or «ON» and the brake pedal is fully depressed, use this button. To do this, first make sure that the parking brake is engaged, then press the button and remove the lever from the position «P». If this situation occurs, check the AT selector lever lock system as soon as possible.
AT operating modes
«P» (parking) In this position, the AT is locked and the front wheels cannot rotate. Before moving the selector lever to this position, stop the car completely and press the lock release button; when parking on a slope, apply the parking brake first.
Attention! Moving the selector lever to position «P» when the vehicle is moving, it will cause blocking of the front wheels and loss of vehicle controllability, as well as damage the vehicle. Don't take advantage of the position «P» instead of the parking brake - they must be used together.
«R» (Reversing) - This position of the AT selector lever is used to move backward.
Attention! To avoid damage to the transmission, make sure the vehicle is at a complete stop before engaging reverse gear. After turning on the mode «R» wait for the transmission to engage (you can feel it in the engine).
«N» (neutral position) - The wheels and transmission are not blocked, the car can be moved freely.
«D» (Movement) — The normal position of the selector lever when the vehicle is moving. AT switches between all forward gears, based on the optimal ratio of power and fuel economy.
«2» (Second gear) - AT shifts only between gears 1 to 2. This is used to get more power when driving uphill, to brake the engine when driving downhill, and also to prevent frequent shifts from 2 to 3 gear. Selecting this position also helps reduce wheel slip on slippery roads. It is forbidden to turn on the mode «2» when driving at a speed above 100 km / h, and also move in second gear at a speed higher than indicated.
«1» (Low gear) - Set the selector lever to this position under heavy load, as well as when driving on a steep slope. In this mode, only 1st gear works. To enable the mode «1» you need to press the release button on the selector lever handle. It is forbidden to turn on the mode «1» when driving at a speed above 50 km / h, and also move in first gear at a speed above the specified one.
Overdrive lock button
This button is located on the side of the handle of the AT mode selector lever, under the safety button. The button functions only when the mode is selected «D».
Position «INCLUDED» (the button is in the depressed position) used for normal vehicle driving conditions. After the car accelerates to a certain speed, the AT will switch to a boost stage.
Note. Overdrive will not engage if the engine has not yet warmed up to normal operating temperature.
Position «TURNED OFF» used when driving on long gentle slopes, when it is useful to brake the engine. Press the overdrive lock button to release the button from the recessed position. In this case, upshifting will be blocked. When blocking the upshift, the corresponding K / L lights up in the instrument cluster.
Note. It is not recommended to drive at high speed for a long time with the overdrive lock engaged. Remember that this increases fuel consumption.
Emergency mode automatic transmission
When the AT goes into emergency mode, the next time the ignition key is turned to the position «ON» K/L «O/D OFF» lights up for two seconds and then flashes for about eight seconds. The possibility of driving the car under its own power remains, however, it should be remembered that in this case the third gear will be constantly included in the AT.
AT can go into emergency mode with an excessively active driving style, when after intensive acceleration with slipping of the driving wheels, a sharp braking of the car follows. This happens even when all the electrical equipment of the AT is in perfect working order. To disable the emergency mode, turn the ignition key to position «OFF», wait three seconds, and then turn the ignition back on. If the emergency mode does not turn off, contact the service station of an authorized NISSAN representative to check and repair the vehicle.
Recommendations for the use of AT
For start of movement select driving mode and wait until the gear is engaged and the power flow reaches the front wheels (it feels like a slight jerk). Only then press the gas pedal.
At short stop, e.g. in front of a traffic light, there is no need to select the mode «N». It is enough to hold the car with the brake pedal. The engine, however, must be running at idle.
At parking lot vehicle on sloping roads, you must first apply the parking brake, and then select the mode «P». Thus, the locking mechanism is not heavily loaded, and then the selector lever can be easily removed from this position.
