Description
The procedure is an operation of training the air supply at idle speed, in which the engine speed is maintained within the normal range. It must be performed in the following cases:
When replacing the throttle actuator or ECM
When the idle speed differs from the norm.
Preparation
Before performing the idle air supply learning procedure, make sure that the following conditions are met. The learning procedure is cancelled if any of them is not met even for a moment.
- battery voltage: more than 12.9V (at idle speed.);
- engine coolant temperature: 70-95°C;
- pNP switch in "ON" position;
- electrical load switch: in the "OFF" position (air conditioning, headlights, rear window defroster).
On vehicles equipped with daytime running lights, set the light switch to position 1 to turn on only the small lights
- steering wheel: in neutral position (corresponding to rectilinear motion);
- car speed: car is standing;
- gearbox: warmed up;
Take a 10 minute car ride.
Procedure of execution
Note:
- It is recommended to keep accurate time using a clock.
- If there is a fault in the accelerator pedal position sensor circuit, switching to diagnostic mode is not possible.
1. Perform the accelerator pedal release position learning procedure.
2. Perform the closed throttle position learning procedure.
3. Start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature.
4. Make sure that all the conditions mentioned in the "Preparation" section are met.
5. Turn the ignition key to the "OFF" position and wait at least 10 seconds.
6. Make sure the accelerator pedal is fully released, turn the ignition key to the "ON" position and wait 8 3 seconds.
7. Repeat the following procedure quickly five times within 5 seconds:
- a. Press the accelerator pedal fully.
- b. Release the accelerator pedal completely.
Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and hold it for approximately 20 seconds until the malfunction indicator Ml stops flashing and remains on steadily.
9. Fully release the accelerator pedal within 3 seconds after the M1 malfunction indicator comes on.
10. Start the engine and let it run at idle speed.
11. Wait 20 seconds.

12. Rev the engine two or three times and make sure that the idle speed and ignition timing are normal.

If the idle speed is different from the norm, the idle air supply training procedure will not be performed. In this case, find the cause of the malfunction using the "Diagnostics Procedure".
Diagnostic procedure
If the idle air supply learning procedure cannot be performed, proceed as follows:
1. Make sure the throttle valve is fully closed.
2. Check the operation of the PCV valve.
3. Make sure that there is no air leak in the area behind the throttle valve.
4. If the three points above are OK, then there is a suspicion regarding the engine components and their correct installation. Check and eliminate the cause of the malfunction.
5. If one of the following conditions occurs after starting the engine, eliminate the cause of the malfunction and perform the idle air learning procedure from the beginning:
- The engine stalls.
- The engine runs unsteadily at idle speed.
