2. Remove the piston rods.
Attention! If no repair work is carried out with the pistons and connecting rods, then there is no need to remove the cylinder head and the connecting rod and piston group. The pistons should only be pushed towards the combustion chambers.
3. Check crankshaft end play (see subsection 3.1.2.9.2), then perform the following operations.
4. Turn away bolts and remove the holder of a back epiploon. When loosening the guide pins, remove them and store with the holder.
5. The main bearing caps must be numbered 1 to 5 starting with the front cap (arrows). If there are no numbers, then apply white paint marks that correspond to the serial number of the cover and determine its orientation.
6. In the reverse order of that shown in the figure, unscrew the bolts securing the main bearing caps, making 1/2 turn per reception. Take out the bolts.
7. Remove covers and take out loose leaves of radical bearings. Tape each insert to the corresponding lid.
8. Carefully remove the crankshaft, while the displacement of the upper shells of the main bearings is not allowed.
9. Remove the upper main bearings from the cylinder block. Tape each insert to the corresponding lid. Remove the thrust washers from the 3rd bearing.
