General information
On the vehicles in question, one of two types of ventilation, heating and A/C systems can be installed: with mechanical and electronic control. Not all of the considered models are equipped with the A/C system.
Air is taken in through the windshield fairing grille and enters the passenger compartment, passing through the filter and, if the heater is on, through its radiator. Keep the windshield fairing grille free of leaves and other debris, and replace the cabin air filter periodically to get the most out of your ventilation system.
Regardless of the type of control unit for these systems, deflectors (two side and two central) air supply to the cabin are located in the same places (see illustration Controls and interior equipment). Handles are mounted in the deflector grilles, with which you can adjust the direction of the air supply, and under the grilles there are rotary regulators of the air supply intensity.
Side deflector control
Central deflector control
The heater and K/V work only at the working engine.
Control unit with mechanical parameter adjustment (type A)
1 - Switch for air distribution modes; 2 - Circulation mode switch; 3 - Temperature controller; 4 - A/C switch; 5 - Fan speed controller
Control unit with electronic parameter adjustment (type B)
1 - Fan speed controller; 2 - Air distribution switch (button «MODE»); 3 - Supply ventilation mode switch; 4 - Circulation mode switch; 5 - Switch for automatic operation of A/C; 6 - Temperature controller; 7 - System switch; 8 - A/C switch; 9 - Display; 10 - Windscreen defroster switch
Adjusting the intensity of the air supply
The air supply intensity is adjusted by changing the fan speed using the appropriate regulator. If regulator 5 in the illustration Control unit with mechanical adjustment of parameters (type A) on control unit type A is set to position «0», the fan is off. On the control unit type B, to turn on the fan and adjust its speed, press the arrows on the corresponding regulator.
Air distribution modes
The following air distribution modes can be selected using the corresponding switch:
- Air enters the cabin through the central and side deflectors (to face);
- Air enters the cabin through the central and side vents, as well as through the lower vents (to the face and to the feet);
- Air enters the cabin mainly through the lower vents (to the feet);
- Air enters the passenger compartment through the windshield blower nozzles and lower vents (on the windshield and to the feet);
- Air enters mainly through the windshield blower nozzles. This mode on the block type B is turned on and off by a separate button (No. 10 in the illustration Control unit with electronic adjustment of parameters (type B)).
On the control box type B to change the air distribution mode, press the button successively «MODE». The unit display shows the icon of the current air distribution mode, as well as the indicator «MANUAL».
Air circulation and forced ventilation modes
When turning on the air circulation mode (on the block type A control to do this, move the switch lever to the extreme right position) The air inside the vehicle circulates in a closed circuit. Air from outside the car is not supplied to the passenger compartment. Circulation mode should be used when driving on dusty roads or in heavy traffic to prevent dust, odors and exhaust gases from entering the passenger compartment. In addition, the circulation mode allows you to significantly accelerate the decrease in the temperature in the cabin when using A/C.
Attention! Do not turn on the air circulation mode for a long time, because. at the same time, the air in the passenger compartment becomes stale, and condensation appears on the windows.
On models with block type B the air circulation mode is turned off automatically when the windshield defrost mode is turned on or when the fresh air switch is pressed.
Fresh air mode (on the control unit type A switch lever is in the leftmost position) is the normal operating mode of the ventilation system.
Enabling circulation or supply ventilation mode on the unit type B accompanied by the inclusion of K / L, built into the corresponding switch.
Functioning of the ventilation and heating system
The heater starts to function only as the engine warms up. In heating mode, warm air enters the passenger compartment through the lower vents. For normal operation of the heating system, turn on the supply ventilation and air supply modes «to the feet», and then set the desired temperature and fan speed. To speed up the warming up of a cold cabin, turn on the circulation mode, but do not forget to turn it off as soon as the air in the cabin warms up enough. If window demisting is required along with interior heating, change the air supply mode to mode.
On some models, a two-level interior heating mode is provided, in which outside air is supplied to the interior through the side and center deflectors, and warm air is supplied through the lower vents. To enable this mode, turn on the supply ventilation, select the air supply mode «to the face and to the feet», select the desired fan speed and set the temperature to 25÷32 deg. (on the block type A this temperature corresponds to the position of the regulator between the middle and extreme right positions).
To remove condensate and frost from the windows, turn on the supply ventilation, set the window blowing mode, turn on the fan at medium speed, and set the temperature controller between the central and extreme right positions. Install the side deflectors in such a way that the air flow from them is directed towards the side windows. To speed up the removal of frost from the glasses, turn on the circulation mode.
Note. On models with a type B unit, to remove condensation and frost from the windows, it is enough to turn on the defroster mode in automatic mode.
A/C system
The K / V system is designed to obtain an air temperature in the cabin below the outside air temperature. The system works only at an ambient temperature above -5 degrees and with the engine running, because the K/V compressor is brought from a cranked shaft of the engine. When the A/C system is on (this is evidenced by K / L built into the switch) fuel consumption increases.
To get the most out of the A/C system, close the windows and sunroof when using it. Keep in mind that the cooled air is dehumidified, so the air conditioner can be used to remove condensation from the windows. To maintain the A/C system in working condition, turn it on at least once a month for 10 minutes.
With a significant increase in coolant temperature, the A/C can automatically turn off to reduce the load on the engine.
Automatic control (only models with block type B)
When the automatic mode is turned on, the operating parameters of the heating, ventilation and A/C systems are selected automatically in such a way as to maintain the set temperature.
To stabilize the temperature in the cabin, a sun sensor is used, do not close it so as not to disrupt the operation of the automation. If necessary, you can manually change the air supply mode, turn on the circulation or supply ventilation mode, and also adjust the fan speed. When changes are made to the automatic mode, the indicator lights up on the display «MANUAL». To turn off the system, press button 7 in the illustration Control unit with electronic parameter adjustment (type B).
