Activation and deactivation of self-diagnosis mode, mode No.1
Note: Self-diagnosis should be performed with the engine running.
1. To activate the self-diagnosis mode, turn off the ignition and start the engine. 10 seconds after starting, press and hold the automatic K/B switch for at least 5 seconds.
2. If activated successfully, all indicators and all segments of the liquid crystal display on the ventilation system control unit should turn on. This is mode #1 (checking indicators).
3. To switch between self-diagnostic modes, press the temperature adjustment buttons.
4. To activate the self-diagnostic mode, turn off the ignition or press the "AUTO" button.
Mode #2 (Checking sensors)
In mode No.2, when all sensors are operating normally, the code is displayed on the display "20". If one of the sensors is faulty (break in the chain), instead of zero the corresponding digit flashes (once). If several sensors are faulty, the corresponding digit in place of zero flashes twice, then the next digit is displayed. If a short circuit is detected, the "AUTO" indicator is additionally switched on.
Codes "21"÷"25" are displayed when there is a fault in the sensor circuit (respectively): outside air temperature, interior air temperature, evaporator temperature and sun sensor.
Mode #3 (Checking the electric motors of the damper drive)
In mode No.3, when all electric motors are operating normally, the code is displayed on the display "30". If one of the electric motors is faulty or a break is detected in its circuit, the corresponding digit flashes (once) instead of zero. If both electric motors are faulty, the corresponding digit in place of zero flashes twice, then the next digit is displayed. If a short circuit is detected, the "AUTO" indicator is additionally switched on.
Codes "31"÷"34" are displayed when there is a malfunction in the air mixing flap electric motor circuit, and the codes "35"÷"38" – in case of a malfunction in the air distribution mode flap electric motor circuit (in each case in the wires from contacts 5, 2, 1 and 6 of the electric motor connector, respectively). The specified contacts of the air mixing flap electric motor connector correspond to contacts 27, 26, 29 and 25 in the control unit connector, and the contacts of the air distribution flap electric motor connector correspond to contacts 32, 31, 37 and 38.
To reset the initial position of the electric motors (this is required after their removal) in this self-diagnostic mode, press the windshield blower switch. The code "30" the blower indicator will flash for approximately 9 seconds.
Mode #4 (Checking actuators)
Each subsequent press of the windshield defroster switch will cause the display to cycle through codes "42", "42", …, "46", "41" etc. For each code, check visually or audibly the operation of the corresponding components in accordance with the table provided.
Mode #5 (Temperature of sensors)
Each time you press the windshield defroster switch, the display will cyclically show: code "5", outside air temperature, cabin air temperature, evaporator temperature, code "5" etc.
