Note. The following describes how to replace the driveshaft boots without removing the driveshafts from the vehicle.
1. Jack up the car and put it on stands. Remove the corresponding wheel.
2. Remove the lock plate from the front suspension strut and disconnect the brake hose from the strut (see chapter Brake system).
3. Pull the ABS wheel sensor out of the steering knuckle (see chapter Brake system).
Note. Do not pull on the sensor wiring.
4. Holding a nave from turning, give a nave nut.
5. Using a special puller, disconnect the tie rod end from the steering knuckle. Temporarily screw the nut onto the thread of the tip
6. Remove the steering knuckle from the suspension strut.
7. Separate the drive shaft from the steering knuckle and tie it up so that it does not fall.
Attention! Do not allow the drive shaft to deflect more than 22 degrees.
8. Remove the bandage bands of the anther of the outer CV joint and slide the anther from the hinge.
9. Using a special puller screwed into the end of the drive shaft, 30 mm (or more), remove the outer CV joint.
10. Remove the boot from the drive shaft.
11. Remove the circlip from the end of the shaft.
12. Use paper towels to clean the hinge cage from old grease. Check up a condition of the hinge and if necessary replace it.
13. Pack new grease into the joint through the spline until it begins to seep out of the cage. Remove leaked grease.
14. Wrap the spline of the shaft with tape so as not to damage the boot when installing it. Install on the shaft new anther and new anther bandage tapes.
15. Remove tape from shaft splines.
16. Install new retaining ring into the groove on the end of the drive shaft. Align and slide the CV joint onto the shaft.
17. Press the hinge onto the shaft using a special tool.
18. Pack 45 - 55 g of grease into the boot, starting from the large edge of the boot.
19. Clean the mating surfaces of the anther from grease.
20. Attach the boot securely to the grooves and make sure that the length of the boot is (L) is 90.4±1 mm. Pry off the edge with a screwdriver (from the larger diameter side) the dust boot and bleed the air out of it to prevent the dust boot from deforming.
21. Attach the boot new bandage tapes.
Note. Size M (see illustration above) when tightening the tapes should be 2.5±0.5 mm.
22. Turning the hinge, make sure that the position of the anther does not change. Otherwise, replace the boot again.
23. Make sure the circlip on the transmission side is in place.
24. Insert the drive shaft into the steering knuckle and temporarily tighten the hub nut.
25. Install the steering knuckle on the suspension strut, connect the removed parts to it and tighten the hub nut with the required force.
26. Install the wheel and lower the vehicle to the ground.
