Removing
1. Remove the air duct. See section «Air cleaner and air duct».
2. Remove the protective pad from the front right fender.
3. Remove a belt of the generator and the conditioner compressor. See section «Drive belts».
4. Remove the air conditioning compressor together with the connected pipes, slide it towards the body and secure with a rope.
5. Disconnect the front exhaust pipe from the front. See chapter Accelerator, fuel system and exhaust system.
6. Remove a rack of the right support of the engine and an arm of the generator.
7. Loosen the bottom bolt and move the alternator towards the front of the car.
8. If necessary, unscrew the heated oxygen sensor 1 as follows:
Note: To remove the heated oxygen sensor 1, steps 2-7 are not required.
Disconnect the wiring connector and remove it from the bracket.
Using a key for heated oxygen sensors (special tool) unscrew the heated oxygen sensor 1.
Attention:
- Handle the sensor with care, do not hit or drop it.
- Do not overtighten the heated oxygen sensor, otherwise the sensor may be damaged, causing the malfunction indicator light to come on «MI».
9. Remove the cap from the exhaust manifold.
10. Remove the cap from the three-way catalytic converter.
11. Loosen the nuts and bolts in the reverse order of the figure below and remove the exhaust manifold and three-way catalytic converter.
Caution: Do not damage the air conditioning pipes.
12 Separate the exhaust manifold and three-way catalytic converter.
Caution: Be careful not to damage the three-way catalytic converter.
Check after removal
Surface warping
With the help of a ruler (1) and probe (2) check that the contact surface of the exhaust manifold is not warped.
Limit: 0.3mm
If warpage exceeds the limit, replace the exhaust manifold.
Installation
Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal, taking into account the following:
Installation of the exhaust manifold and three-way catalytic converter
Check for damage or foreign particles on the contact surfaces.
Tighten the nuts in the order indicated by the numbers in the figure.
Installation of a heated oxygen sensor.
Caution: Do not overtighten the heated oxygen sensor, otherwise the sensor may be damaged, causing the malfunction indicator light to come on «MI».
